Gladys Irene Huff Cornett, 73, passed away March 19, 2017 at the Whitesburg ARH hospital. She lived on Judy Branch at Roxana, Kentucky. Visitation will be held at the Letcher Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 21, from 6 to 9 o'clock PM. Funeral service will be held at the Letcher Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 11:00 am with pastor Ralph Hall  and David Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at the family cemetery on Judy Branch. Gladys was born in Kimball, West Virginia to Varsh and Cynthia Slone Huff on January 20, 1944. She grew up in Knott County and graduated from Whitesburg High School. She retired from the Cabinet for Families and Children where she worked as a secretary. She attended church at Forgiven Ministries in Whitesburg and enjoyed her family, traveling with her husband, going to bluegrass festivals, and visiting relatives, friends, and neighbors. Gladys is survived by her husband of 55 years, 5 months, and 1 day, Ralph Cornett; three sons, Marty and wife Angie (London, KY) Todd and wife Pam (Sassafras, KY), Kenny and wife Ginger (Blackey, KY). She has six grandchildren: Amber Murtaugh, Lesley Payne, Cole Cornett, Candice Cornett, Julie Cornett, and Ben Cornett; and two great grandchildren: Sadie Drew Payne and Hadley Murtaugh. She is also survived by her Aunt Vina Slone and three loving sisters, Mavis Johnson, Helen Sumler, and Nancy Burchett along with a host of other friends and relatives. Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, Varsh and Cynthia; four brothers: Freddie, Carlos, Donald, and Ernie. Gladys had a great love for God, her husband, children, family and others. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Shriners.
