John L. Hicks

John L. Hicks, age 87, of West Chester, Ohio passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at his residence.  He was born Thursday July 24, 1930 in Scio, Ohio to John Robert and Anna Blanche (nee May) Hicks. John was an Auditor for the government overlooking projects at GE.  He looked forward to family trips to Florida where he enjoyed walking the beach looking for shells and fishing off the pier.  John also enjoyed golfing and hunting with his sons.  If there was a family gathering taking place, you could count on John to show up with his "poker change" and have hours of fun playing cards with those he loved the most.  John was preceded in death by: his parents, John and Anna Hicks; children, David and Felicia; and siblings, Matilda "Irene" Gotschall, Dorothy Malone, Alice Winzinreid and Laura "Susie" Hauser. John is survived by: his wife, Joyce (nee Griffith) Hicks; sons, Dan (Lori) Hicks and Chris (Julie) Hicks; grandchildren, Samantha (Joe) Dunaway, Emily (Casey) Hall, David Hicks, Zoe Hicks, Grace Hicks, John Hicks, and Henrietta Hicks; great-grandchildren Felicia Dunaway,  Juliana Dunaway, Jackson Dunaway and Mason Hall; and many other loving family members and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Rd., Mason, OH 45040.  Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Letcher Funeral Home, 102 Main Street, Whitesburg, Kentucky 41858.  Interment will immediately follow in Pearl Dixon Cemetery.  Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
