Anthony Wayne “AJ” Smith was born July 4th, 1957. His Independence Day birthday matched perfectly with his firecracker spirit. He was a proud and loving son, brother, uncle, and great-uncle. His passions included: Elvis, golf, singing, and UK Basketball. His ready smile and outgoing demeanor brought joy to all.

Anthony entered eternal life Monday February 11th, 2019 surrounded by friends and family at Pikeville Medical Center. He was 61 years, 7 months, and 7 days at the time of his passing.

He is survived by his parents, Homer and Ruth Smith; his brother, Roger Smith (Cissy Smith); his sister, Vicki Jent (Lester Jent); aunts: Ila Mae Cloud and Illa Smith; nieces: Amanda Banks, Lisa DeCarlo (Dan Decarlo), and Cassidy Coleman; nephew: JP Coleman; great-nephews: Benjamin Banks, Lucas and Wyatt DeCarlo, along with a host of other relatives and friends that mourn his passing.

Funeral: 1:00 O'clock P.M. Friday, February 15, 2019 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Allen Whitaker, Danny Dixon, and Roy Slone officiating. Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery at Jeremiah, Kentucky.
