James Rudd Obituary

James Michael Rudd, son of the late Donald Lynn Rudd and Margaret Rudd of Whitesburg and James and Shelia Maggard of Elk Creek, was born July 17, 1978 being 40 years, 6 months, and 16 days of age at the time of his passing.

 

James was an outdoors person from the time he was a lil boy. He loved being outdoors climbing the mountains. He loved horses and dogs. He loved coon hunting and often went even on school nights.

 

He would travel miles to different states to pick up his next coon dog.

 

James worked many years in the coal mines and loved it. He then after a sickness couldn’t go back to work in the mines so he got his CDL License and started driving an 18 wheeler cross country often taking his Mom along for the ride with him.

 

James was baptized on February 29, 1992 at Thornton Freewill Baptist Church.

 

James is survived by his mother: Margaret Rudd and companion Lawrence Goodgame of Whitesburg; James and Shelia of Elk Creek; 1 daughter: Mashaya Dawn Rudd of Deane; fiancée: Jamee Kontos; 2 half brothers; Josh Maggard and Devin Maggard both of Elk Creek; 1 half sister: Jessica Maggard of Elk Creek; grandmother: Effie Maxie of Thornton who he loved with his whole heart; grandfather: Carl D. Maxie of Eli jay, Georgia; 5 aunts who were more of sisters than aunts: Sharon (Kyle) Maxie of Thornton, Diane (Dukie) Pratt of Thornton, Karen (Eric) Jolly of Cummings, Georgia, Jewell Holland of Isom, and Carla Maxie of Cumming, Georgia, Debbie (Terry) Adams; 8 uncles who were more like brothers than uncles: Donnie Maxie of Sandlick, Robert (Renia) Maxie of Sandlick, Walter (Kathy) Holland of Indiana, Devin (Melissa) Maxie of Georgia, Marcus Maxie of Georgia, Mike Rudd of Lexington and David and Royce Maggard of Whitesburg; his best friend: Josh Tackett and Tommy Rose.

 

James was preceded in death by his grandparents: Don and Loraine Rudd, Bill and Helen Maggard and a uncle: Randy Rudd.

 

James will be greatly missed by so many people to mourn his passing, nieces, nephews, cousins who he loved her so much and his 2nd mom Maxine Bates of Thornton. Rest Easy Son.

Funeral: 1:00 O'clock P.M. Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Ted Collins, brent Vance, and others officiating. Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Monday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Thornton Cemetery at Thornton, Kentucky.
