Folks, here is the information for Jennifer's Celebration of Life to be held Saturday, February 3rd beginning at 1:30pm. The celebration will take place in the theatre at Appalshop, 91 Madison Ave, Whitesburg, KY 41858. For those coming from the Bristol, Whitesburg is about an hour and forty-five-minute drive taking Highway 23 followed by US 119.

For those traveling further and needing accommodations, sadly, there aren't many options in Whitesburg although there are a few Air B&B choices. If you are looking for nice hotels I recommend either the Benham Schoolhouse Inn in Benham, KY or hotels in Wise/Norton Virginia. Both Benham and Wise/Norton are about a half hour from Whitesburg. There are links below for options in and around Whitesburg and Wise/Norton as well as a link to the Benham Schoolhouse Inn. The Benham Schoolhouse Inn was once a high school and is where Jennifer's mother Carrie graduated. It held a special place in Jennifer's heart.

This is a celebration and the family is going to try, as much as we can, to leave our sadness at the door. Jennifer wouldn't want it any other way. With that said the program will involve family and friends sharing funny and/or inspirational stories about Jennifer's life. Following the speakers there will be seven groups of Jennifer's favorite Appalachian musicians, Brian Campbell, Bak2Bak featuring her friends Angela Miles-Back and Hugo Back, Ron Short, Jake Baine, W.v. Hill of Foddershock, Maggie Noëlle and members of her band, Magnolia Boulevard and David and Teresa Prince (Luna and the Mountain Jets and Laid Back Country Picker).

Robert Gipe will serve as emcee of the event. Robert is a great friend of mine and went to high school with Jennifer in Kingsport.

My friend for several decades, Jen was one of the most special people I have ever met. A one-of-a-kind individual who was as beautiful inside as she was outside! So proud of her Jessi and so in love with Malcolm. She loved her life and was eager to share her gypsy spirit with everyone around her. Prayers for her family.
