Nathan Baker, son of the late Bob and Ollie Engle Baker, was born May 22, 1937 at Mayking, Kentucky. He passed away October 12, 2019 at the East Kentucky Veterans Center at Hazard, Kentucky being 82 years, 5 months, and 20 days of age at the time of his passing. He is survived by 1 son: Wade (Tricia) Baker of Whitesburg; 1 daughter: Lisa (Anthony) Adams of Whitesburg; 2 grandsons: Chase Adams of Lexington and Christian Baker of Whitesburg; 2 granddaughters: Amber Carter of Whitesburg and Savannah (Baker) Jolly of Charlotte, North Carolina; 3 great grandchildren: Teagun Carter, River Adams, and Harlow Rae Baker; 2 brothers: Jimmy (Tina) Baker of Whitesburg and Joe Baker of Riner, Virginia; 1 sister: Janice Fanklin of Whitesburg; 2 stepsons: Rick Caudill and Mike Caudill both of Whitesburg along with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. In addition to his parents Nathan was preceded in death by his wife: Lois Baker; son: Scotty Baker; brother: Fred Baker; sister: Rosemary Baker. Nathan volunteered his services to the United States Navy in 1954. He was a night watchman where he met Lois Baker and married her in 1959 in Clintwood, Virginia. He was a city policeman and served as Chief of Police. He was a past magistrate of District 4 and past Mayor of the City of Whitesburg. Funeral: 1:00 O'clock P.M. Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Densmore Goodson officiating. Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Monday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine, Kentucky.
