Yvonne Alexander

Alexander, Yvonne, 80, of Tampa, Florida died on Sunday, September 30, 2018. Yvonne was a proud alumnus of the University of Kentucky, where she received a B.A. in Elementary Education, with minor in English. She married her husband, Bill, on January 26, 1961. The couple lived briefly in Fort Campbell, KY, before moving to Miami, where they raised their two children Keith and Hope (Alexander) Bennett. Yvonne had a unique passion and gift for teaching children. She taught five years at The Gardner School before opening and operating Shores School, a preschool in Miami Shores, for eight years. Along with her husband, Yvonne was an avid Porsche auto-cross racer and she competed throughout the Southeast United States with the Porsche Club of America. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Olin Alexander. She is survived by her children, Keith Alexander (Larchmont, NY), Hope Alexander Bennett (Tampa, FL); her sister, Jeffrey Tabol (Decatur, GA); her five grandchildren, Ashley Bennett (Marietta, GA), Amy Bennett Person (Memphis, TN), Sarah Bennett (Tampa, FL), Jake Alexander (Larchmont, NY), and Patrick Alexander (Larchmont, NY); her son-in-law, Don Bennett (Tampa, FL), daughter-in-law, Renee Riethmiller Alexander (Larchmont, NY), grandson-in-law, Austin Person (Memphis, TN); and her niece Mary Anna Tabol (Atlanta, GA). Yvonne was the daughter of James Otis Davis and Mary Jane Whitaker. A viewing is scheduled for October 4, 2018, from 5-7p.m., at Letcher Funeral Home, 102 E. Main Street, Whitesburg, KY 41858; a grave-side service will be held October 5, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. at the Squire & Ida Whitaker Cemetery, Mill Branch, KY.
