Betty Jo (Collins) Watts, 88 of Blackey, Kentucky, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026. Betty was the daughter of the late Claude and Oveline Clemons Collins. She was the widow of Ruben Watts. Betty retired from the Letcher County School Board of Education where she served many roles finally retiring as the director of Special Education. Betty was a member of the Whitesburg First Baptist Church. She served her community in a variety of ways such as: Whitesburg ARH Ladies Auxiliary and the Whitesburg Food Pantry. Betty is survived by her loving daughter: Claudia Kyle Watts Godbey (Michael) of Wilmore, Kentucky; 2 loving step daughters: Nola Yvonne Caudill (Jerry) of Elk Creek and Gwenda Day of Whitesburg; a special step son: Michael Ruben Watts (Donna) of Millbranch; 1 brother: Robert Nolan Collins of Buck Creek; 2 sisters: Elizabeth Carol Hollembeak of Safety Harbor, Florida and Rhonda Lynn Obst (Richard) of Hudson, Florida; Betty was loved by 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Betty was preceded in death by her siblings: Wanda Faye Roark (Ken), Claude Collins Jr., Gladys Pigman (Coy), and Danola Wright (Odell). Funeral Services for Betty will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 11:00 O'clock A.M. at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine, Kentucky with Special Cousin: Johnny Collins; grandsons and other beloved friends: Elliott Day, Michael Ruben Watts II, Eli Gordon, Mike Watts, Hayden Godbey, and Wade Collins serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations go to the Whitesburg Food Pantry.
