Bill Lewis

Bill Lewis, 81 of Neon, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at his residence. Bill was the son of the late Thomas and Georgia Addington Lewis. Bill was a member of the Letcher County Board of Education, a Deacon at the Fleming Baptist Church, a former member of the Neon Area Jayces, a former Elder at the Haymond Presbyterian Church, a Teacher at Fleming Neon and Jenkins where he also coached, and a U.K. Fan. Surviving are his wife: Carol Vanover Lewis; 2 sons: Bryan Reese (Aliyah) Lewis of Weber City, Virginia and William Jody (Chelsea) Lewis of Johnson City, Tennessee; 1 daughter: Sharie (Randy) Bailey of Whitesburg; 1 brother: Thomas "Tick" Lewis Jr. of Whitesburg; 4 grandchildren: Rebecca, Ariana, Aaron, and Natalie; 1 brother-in-law: Kermit Vanover; 3 sisters-in-law: Bobbie (the late Paul) Stewart, Sharon (the late James) Slone, Rhonda (Roy) Boggs along with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Bill was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Edsel Lewis and Charles "Chuck" Lewis; 1 sister-in-law: Georgie (Harold) Newman. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 O'clock A.M. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Brent Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Potter Cemetery at Payne Gap, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M. Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel.
