April 2, 1943 ~ September 12, 2021 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Carol Ison Obituary

 Carol Fields Ison, daughter of the late Grant and Jane Miles Fields, was born on April 2, 1943.  She entered eternal life on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at her home in Cowan, at 78  years of age.   

Carol was married to Kendall Ison on December 20, 1961.  They have two children, Marshall (Liz) Ison of Cowan and Valerie (Steve Ruth) Ison Horn of Little Dry Fork.    

Carol and Kendall had six grandchildren,  William Ison of Winchester, Steven (Camille) of Whitco, Eric and Rayden Ison of Cowan, Callie Horn (Josh) Blair of Little Dry Fork and Grant (Alyshia) Horn of Mayking.  

Carol and Kendall have 5 Great grandchildren, Tobi and Tori Ison of Ice,  Eliza Jane and Owen Gregory Blair of Little Dry Fork, and  Amelia Gene Horn of Mayking.  

Carol is survived by  and preceded by dear nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, family, neighbors and community near and far.   

Carol was preceded in death by her son-in-law Greg Horn, brothers and sisters Hazel (Earl) Rayburn, Doug (Ruth) Fields, Mary Lou Fields, Fred (Iona) Fields, Helen (Ralph) York, Ed Neil (Faye) Fields, Donald Gay Fields,  and Hattie Fields. 

Carol is survived and preceded by her family, Jimmy McIntosh and preceded in death by Eddie and Benny McIntosh.   

Carol was a member of the Whitesburg First Baptist Church.  Carol retired from the Letcher County Public School System working in many schools as a teacher, counselor and administrator.   Carol also worked with the Mountain Comprehensive Health Corporation in their early years. Carol served her community in many ways with her first love being the Cowan Community Center and was on the board of the Letcher County Extension Office.  Carol believed in serving God, Family and Community and was always a faithful and humble servant.   
If you desire, in Lieu of flowers donations are welcome to the Whitesburg First Baptist Church or the Cowan Community Center.

Funeral: 12:00 O'clock Noon, Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the Whitesburg First Baptist Church with Tony Brown officiating. Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Monday at the Whitesburg First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Edward P. Day Cemetery at Cowan, Kentucky.
