Charlie Holbrook of Deane, Kentucky passed away February 13, 2025 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Bluegrass Hospice Center, in Hazard, Kentucky. He was born February 29, 1932. As he was born during a leap year, his birthday has always been celebrated on March 1st. Charlie was 92 years, 11 months and 12 days of age at the time of his passing.
He was the widower of Wilma Caudill Holbrook, the love of his life. They were married on January 2, 1954 and had been married for 63 years at the time of her passing. The last 7 years and 10 months had been so hard for him.
Charlie was the last surviving child of 13 children born to the late Archie and Eliza Couch Holbrook. He had 5 brothers and 7 sisters.
Charlie was a member of the Union Association of Old Regular Baptist Churches since October 1973. He was ordained as a Deacon in the Mill Creek Old Regular Baptist Church on October 24, 1981 and later ordained as a minister in the same church on November 27, 1982.
Charlie leaves behind to mourn his passing:
2 daughters: Kathy (Eugene) Hall of Deane, Kentucky. Anita (Johnny) Spicer of Fort Myers, Florida.
2 sons: Greg (Sharon) Holbrook and Ron (Georgia) Holbrook, both of Richmond, Kentucky.
Also surviving are 6 grandsons and their spouses and 3 granddaughters and their spouses, 8 great grandsons and 6 great granddaughters and 1 great granddaughter-in-law. There were no "in laws" where Charlie was concerned though; everyone was family-no "in laws".
He also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral: 1:00 O'clock P.M. Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Dixon officiating. Visitation: 6:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M. Monday and Tuesday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine, Kentucky.
