Dalna Conley

Dalna Wampler Conley, 97 years old, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 8:50 a.m. at Letcher Manor Nursing Home. Dalna belonged to the Peoples Fundamental Baptist Church in Dunham, Kentucky.  Dalna worked during World War II in Baltimore, Maryland for the war effort. She was a homemaker raising 5 children and loved to cook, always having her children's friends running in and out and donated to the less fortunate.  She spent her latter years watching the Kentucky Wildcats play ball, Fox News and preaching on television.  She loved to have her family and friends  all fellowshipping around the dining table loaded with good home cooking and wanted everybody to stay overnight.  Dalna always had a smile and everybody that knew her loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Richard Wampler and Ova Sturgill Wampler;her husband, Ivory Dee Conley; a son, Richard Conley; a daughter Jennifer Conley Walker; a son in law, Kyle Walker; grandsons Shane Tackett and Erik Conley. Surviving are her daughters, Deanna (Jackie) Tackett of Fayettville, NC; Sherry Conley of Hazard, Ky; her son, Rex Conley ( Teresa) of Wise, Virginia; and her grandchildren, Darrell Tackett (Carmen) of Birmingham, Alabama; Kevin Greene (Ashley) of Louisville, Ky; Kelly Dee Greene (Megan) of Frankfort, Ky; Mindy Greene of Gainsville, GA; Shelly Walker Polly of Jenkins, Ky; Kyla Walker Davidson (Rich) of Ruffellville, TN; Shauna Conley McDaniel of Destin, FL; and Brandon Conley (Ashley) of Whitesburg, Ky. and 18 great grandchildren and 5 gg grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends; also her daughters from another mother, that she loving took into her heart and home, are Linda Gail Gilliam Wright and Shirley Sawkins. She loved the lord with all her heart and was a shining example to everyone always telling everyone about Jesus. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Letcher Manor Nursing Home for their kindness and love shown to their mother. There will be a graveside service for Dalna Conley on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens of Big Stone Gap, VA.  The funeral procession will leave the Letcher Funeral Home of Whitesburg, Ky at 10:00 A.M.
