Daniel C. Taylor, of Isom, Kentucky, passed away at home on May 17th 2026, being 79 years, 3 months, and 10 days at the time of his passing. Dan was born February 7th, 1947, in Chickamauga, Georgia to the late D.C. and Jane Taylor. Later in the years, the family picked up and made Kentucky their home in Letcher and Bell County. In 1969, Dan graduated from LMU with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education. While at LMU, Dan played baseball and was their pitcher. After graduating from LMU, he went on and graduated from Morehead State completing his Master of Arts degree in 1977. On November 20th, 1980, Dan married Evelyn Bailey Taylor to this union was born one son, Jimmy Dan. Throughout the years, Dan was not only a great husband, father, grandfather, he was a teacher, bus driver, park ranger, and a coach. Dan has always been an avid sports guy. From being a Railsplitter legend by being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018 at LMU, in 1985 he was inducted into Letcher County Sports Hall of Fame. In 1964 and 1965, Dan was an Honorable Mention All State Basketball Player for the Letcher Eagles. Also anyone that knew Dan Taylor knew he bled the colors red and black. He was a true Georgia Bulldogs fan. His favorite saying was "How about them Dawgs". Danny is survived by 1 son, Jimmy Dan (Jolena) of Isom; 1 daughter, Stephanie Ann of Florida; 5 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; 2 great grandsons; 1 sister, Elizabeth Ann Elswick of Richmond and his caretaker, Mallorie Caudill. Danny was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Evelyn. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 O'clock P.M. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in the Isom Cemetery at Isom, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel.
