Delana Sue Mays, daughter of the late Bishop Clyde A. Mays and Maxie Halcomb Mays, was born on August 7, 1947 in Hazard, Kentucky, she entered into the arms of Jesus on December 15, 2023 at 6:15 A.M. She attended several public schools and graduated from Morristown High School in Morristown, Tennessee. Sue professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and joined The Church of God of Prophecy at Wentz, Kentucky. She served Christ faithfully and assisted her father as her pastored in different cities/states. She was a talented vocalist and served as Sunday School Teacher and Youth Leader.
She was united in holy matrimony with Roger Trent on December 14, 1968. They were blessed with two sons.
Her kind heart and generous spirit touched everyone who met her. She met every challenge in life with a smile, sometimes a laugh, and never burdened others with those challenges. She lived a life of service learned from her parents. An amazing cook, she found great joy in sharing the fruits of her labor in the kitchen and connecting with the past in her genealogical work.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband Roger and sons; Kevin Lynn and Denise (Caudill) Trent and Jamey Landon Trent; her grandchildren Katelyn Dawn Trent and Kaleb Dalton Trent; her sister Lynda L. Mays and a host of loving friends and family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the Letcher Funeral Home, beginning at 6 P.M. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 beginning at 11 A.M. Burial will follow at the Arthur Halcomb Cemetery in Little Leatherwood.
