Douglas Hayes, age 68 of Payne Gap, passed away October 3, 2019 at his residence.
Douglas was born August 17, 1951 in Hemphill, Kentucky to Conley Hayes and Loretta Miller Hayes.
Doug worked 24 years as an underground coal miner, the majority with Southeast Coal Company.
He enjoyed the outdoors, family, and being a Pap.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his eldest son Jamie Douglas Hayes; one brother Paul Hayes.
He is survived by his wife Alice Wolfe Hayes; one son: Conley Randall Hayes of Jackhorn; a son and daughter by marriage: Mike (Lindsay) Day of Davidson, North Carolina and Randi (Todd) Kincer of Whitesburg, Kentucky; daughter at heart: Anna Mae Reynolds,
Three grandchildren: Austin Day, Keightle, and Brady Banks; one sister: Anita Dennis of Neon; one brother: Carl Dooley Hayes of Jackhorn; loving nephew Timothy J.J. Hayes wife Teresa and children: Dalton, Kacey, and his namesake Adyn Douglas all of Whitesburg; lifetime friends who led him to the Lord: David Caudill, Glen Rose, and Marlene Bieliceki.
Funeral: 1:30 O'clock P.M. Sunday, October 6, 2019 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Hollis Bevins officiating. Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Hemphill Cemetery at Hemphill, Kentucky.
