Florene (Ison) Smith

Florene Ison Smith, 95 of Whitesburg, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024, at her residence. Florene was the daughter of the late Marion and Sally Frazier Ison. She was the widow of Herbert H. Smith. Surviving is 3 sons: Carroll Smith of Kingdom Come Creek, Herby (Elizabeth) Smith of Pine Mountain, and Timothy (Connie) Smith of La Grange; 5 daughters: Beverly Dawahare of Lexington, Charlotte (Don) Brown of Dry Fork, Susan (Don) Childre of Jacksonville, Florida, Sally (Dave) Sauerbeck of La Grange, and Mary Meade of Winchester; 1 brother: Glenn Ison of Frankfort; 1 sister: Amelia Bone of Campbellsville; 23 grandchildren along with a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Florene was preceded in death by a daughter in law: Nancy Smith; sons in law: Martin Dawahare and Steve Meade; grandchild: Carroll Allen Smith II; 1 brother: Doug Ison; 1 sister: Laura Meek. Funeral 2:00 O'clock P.M. Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Whitesburg First Baptist Church with Tony Brown officiating. Visitation 6:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M. Friday, November 1, 2024, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Pendleton Cemetery at Ermine, Kentucky.
