Jack Newell Adams, born October 11, 1928 in Whitesburg, Kentucky went to his Heavenly home on April 24, 2020 at age 91. He was a resident at the Letcher Manor Nursing Home.
He served during the Korean War before returning home to marry his sweetheart or “popcorn girl”, Mable Adams. Together they made their home at Colson, where they raised their family and were founding members of Colson Baptist Church. Jack served as a deacon and bus driver. He was an avid fisher, gardener, and handyman. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and The Shriners. He retired as a painter from Appalachian Regional Healthcare, where he worked for many years.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and is survived by his son Stephen (Lucretia) Adams, daughter Monieca (Steve) Hogg; 4 grandchildren, Josh (Blaire) Adams, Andrea (Nick) McGaha, Steven (Sara) Hogg, and Jacqueline (Evan) Egan, and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 brother, Bud (Brenda) Adams, two sisters, Dixie Howard and Judy (James) Gilley and a host of other relatives and friends that mourn his passing.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Adams, daughter, Karen Diane Combs, and son-in-law, Homer Combs. Jack was the son of the late Riley and Marjorie Adams of Whitesburg, Ky.
