James Derek "Duke" Amburgey, 39 of Millstone, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023, at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Healthcare Center. James was the son of the late Carter E and Elaine Bentley Amburgey. He worked for the Letcher County School Board and Letcher County for several years. Surviving is his significant other of 11 years: Diane Isaac; special 1st cousin: Angie (Tim) Hampton; special aunt: Patricia (Dean) Thompson; special friend: Kirby W. Rose; special neighbors: The Fultons; fur baby: Boo Boo; extended love for Rylee Hampton, Isabella Hampton, and Wyatt Hampton along with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral 2:00 O'clock P.M. Friday, May 5, 2023, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Hurst officiating. Visitation 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine, Kentucky.
