James Dwayne Gibson, 65 of Cowan, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Baptist Health Center in Lexington, Kentucky. James was the son of the late Alonzo and Lona Amburgey Gibson. James was a member of the Sandlick Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving is his wife of 20 years: Kenetta Gibson; 2 children: Sabriena (Jack) Hackworth of Millersburg and Jimmy Gibson of Whitesburg; 5 sisters: Betty (Burl) Taylor Nicholasville, Janice (Elmer) Sargent of Beattyville, and Lois Ann (Vernon) Dixon of Whitesburg, Jennie (Roger) Jolly of Cynthiana and Mary Jean Gibson of Cynthiana; 2 grandchildren: Jordan Howard and Nickolas Howard; special friend: Mary Jolly along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. James was preceded in death by his 1st wife: Juliette Standifer Gibson; 2 brothers: Luther Gibson and Ricky Gibson; 1 sister: Ruby Kirkpatrick; a special mother-in-law: Bobbie Fields. Funeral: 12:00 O'clock Noon Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Whitesburg Holiness Church with Ronnie Lee Napier officiating. Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Thursday and 6:00 P.M. Friday at the Whitesburg Holiness Church. Burial will follow in the Miles Cemetery at Cowan, Kentucky.
