James Earl "Red Sod" Boggs, 82 of Millstone, passed away Monday, April 6, 2026 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky. James was the son of the late Burley Ray and Audrey May Church Boggs. Surviving is his wife of 64 years: Ruby Jean Fleming Boggs; 2 sons: Dewayne (Patricia) Boggs and Dewryan (Rebekah) Boggs; 6 grandchildren: Tonya Bentley, Ryan (Sarah) Boggs, Eric Boggs, Jake Bentley, Brianna Boggs, Bryleigh Boggs; 6 great grandchildren: Izaak (Hayle) Combs, Chance Yeary, Gracie Yeary, Harley Boggs, Aiden Bentley and Harrison Bentley; 1 great great grandson on the way : Xayne Wayne Combs; 3 brothers: Ray Keith (Demaris) Boggs, Larry Douglas (Debbie) Boggs and Jeffery Wayne (Wyonna) Boggs all of Millstone; 2 sisters: Nellie Lavern (Shelby) Fields and Joyce Ann Boggs all of Payne Gap; 2 very special nieces: Laranda Baker and Elisha (Rob) Baker. James was preceded in death by 1 daughter: Derenia (Dunbar) Bentley; 1 sister: Audrey Faye Morris. Funeral: 12:00 O'clock Noon Friday, April 10, 2026 at the Calvary Temple Church with Conard Profitt and Jabo Miles officiating. Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Wednesday and all day Thursday at the Calvary Temple Church. Burial will follow in the Dewey Cemetery at Pound, Virginia.
