Johnnie Brown Obituary

Johnnie Reed Brown, 83 of Sandlick, passed away his his home of July 22, 2024. He was the last of 4 children of the late Otis Brown and Aggie Brown of Sandlick.

Johnnie was preceded in death by is parents along with one sister: Yvonne Adams; two brothers: Leon Brown and Donald (12 Gauge) Brown; one son: Brian Brown of Dandridge, Tennessee; one granddaughter: Sierra Winslow of Pennsylvania.

He leaves behind to mourn his passing: Mavis Eldridge Brown, his wife of 47 years; one son: Gregory Brown of Georgia; two granddaughters: Kelli Hickey and Raven Brown both of Tennessee; one grandson: Kevin Brown; one great grandson: Caleb and one great granddaughter: Cecilia both of Tennessee. He leaves nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews to mourn his passing.

Johnnie went into the Army right out of High School. He often said "I went In a Boy and Came out a Man"

He proudly served in both Korea and Germany after 7 years he was forced to take an Honorable Medical Discharge due to a bad parachute jump that left him with a back injury that ended his Army career.

Johnnie will be missed by many friends and especially one little guy that stole his heart: Memphis Ray Brown, never forget your John John. 

Funeral: 1:00 O'clock P.M. Thursday, July 25, 2024 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Family & Friends officiating. Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine, Kentucky. 

In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Bluegrass Navigators (Hospice) of Hazard, Kentucky.
