Maewood (Ison) Whitaker

Ethel Maewood Whitaker, 88 of Dry Fork, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center. Mae was the daughter of the late George B. and Callie Fields Ison. She was the widow of Billy Harold Whitaker. Surviving is 3 children: Mark (Kendra) Whitaker of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Lisa (Joe Fulks) Braswell of Little Cowan and Lana (J.D.) Stacy of Emmalena; 1 brother: Cas Ison of Michigan; 3 sisters; Gertrude Ison of Ohio, Junie Turner of Shelbyville and Jodie Copley of Ohio; grandchildren: Emily Whitaker, Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Katie (McKenzie) Braswell-Miller of Viper, Seth Whitaker of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Logan Stacy of Emmalena and Hayden Stacy of Emmalena. Mae was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Minuard Ison, Zennith Ison, Coburn Ison and James Ison; 3 sisters: Mary Halcomb, Frankie Sebastian and Jeanetta HIckman along with a host of half brothers and sisters. Funeral: 1:00 O'clock P.M. Sunday, May 4, 2025 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Whitaker and others officiating. Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center.
