Obituary

Mary Holcomb, 88 of Hallie, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023 at the Bluegrass Care Navigators Center in Hazard, Kentucky. Mary was the daughter of the late R.B. and Lista Sparkman Whitaker. She was the widow of Franklin Holcomb. Surviving is 2 sons: J.B. (Patty Sexton) Holcomb of Hallie and David (Kimberly) Holcomb of Somerset; 2 daughters: Shelia Hurt of Hazard and Launa (Ricky) Adams of Redfox; 1 brother: Ova Whitaker of Hallie; 3 sisters: Lavada Cornett of Hallie, Wanda Gains of Shelbyville, and Ethel Baker of Hazard; 5 grandchildren: Amanda, Lista (Mikey), Chris, Ryan, John (Brandy) and Paula; 12 great grandchildren: Hailee, Kanyon, Chloe, Jarrod, Brittany, Brianna, Lillie, Kalie, Kolton, Tanner, McQuade and Masa; special friends: Brandi, Barb, Kay and Ernie Watts. Mary was preceded in death by 1 son: James Holcomb; 2 sisters: Euna Mae Whitaker and Inus Whitaker; son-in-law: Mike Hurt. Funeral: 1:00 O'clock Friday, March 24, 2023 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Clyde Bentley and Mike Stanley officiating. Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Holcomb Family Cemetery at Hallie, Kentucky.
