Mertie H. (Hampton) Caudill

Mertie Hampton Caudill passed away peacefully on April 23, 2021 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard Kentucky. She was 94 years old. Mertie was born January 14, 1927, to Alamander and Ranie Hampton, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Sterlin Caudill, a grandson, Tony Caudill, brothers Clarence and Clifton, and sisters Laura Caudill, Lucy Brown, Lois Back and Emogene Banks. Mertie is survived by one sister, Betty Lou Morton.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Lynn Caudill of Jeremiah, and daughter Lisa Coleman (Greg) of Charleston, West Virginia, and granddaughters Andrea (Dale) West and Angie (Jeff) Crumbley, both of Ohio.

Mertie joined the Doty Creek Old Regular Baptist Church in April of 1974 and was a good and faithful servant of the Lord. She was a loving and devoted wife and a tender, compassionate mother. She was a gentle soul who would often say, "I love everybody." And she did.

Funeral: 2:30 O'clock P.M. Sunday, April 25, 2021 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Aaron Whitaker and Deffort Thornsberry officiating. Visitation: 1:30 Sunday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery at Letcher, Kentucky.
