Novella Halcomb, 80 of Thornton, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Novella was the daughter of the late Lorn and Margie Brashears Banks. Surviving is her husband: Herbert Halcomb; 1 son: Loran Monroe Sturgill of Sandlick; 2 daughters: Twona Gail Sturgill of Whitesburg and Tracy Ludema Johnson of Big Stone Gap, Virginia; 2 brothers: Donnie Banks of Cincinnati, Ohio and Bobby Banks of Whitesburg; 2 sisters: Janice Duncan of Albany and Susie Stamper of Columbus, Indiana; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren. Novella was preceded in death by her 1st husband: Monroe Sturgill; 1 daughter: Charlene Anderson; 2 brothers: Gary Banks and Larry Banks. Funeral: 1:00 O'clock P.M. Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Tuesday and 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Forgiven Ministries. Burial will follow in the Obie Fields Cemetery at Cowan, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to help pay for the funeral expenses.
