Rickey Vance

Walter Rickey Vance, 69 of Whitesburg, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Healthcare Center. Rickey was the son of the late Woodrow and Esther Vermillion Vance.

Rickey was well known for his interior decorating skills and making beautiful flower arrangements. He always said even as a young boy that he loved working with flowers and arranging them to make them pretty and full.

Whitesburg has always been his home place. He walked the streets and visited with people everyday. He spent multiple years working at Dairy Queen fixing food and greeting people. He did love to cook and bake for his family and friends.

He is survived by his brother: Harold Vance of Neon; 1 niece: Angie Vance Whitaker of Neon; Angie's boys who called him Uncles Rickey, Alex (Cortina) Whitaker of Neon, Ben (Bea) Whitaker of Asheville, North Carolina and Joshua Whitaker of Neon; his uncles Ralph Vermillion of Denver, Colorado and cousins: Donna and Janet Vermillion of Denver Colorado along with so many relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral: 1:00 O'clock P.M. Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Brent Thompson officiating. Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Monday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Stallard Cemetery at Campbranch, Kentucky.
