Ricky Dale "Cootie" Brown

Ricky Dale "Cootie" Brown, originally of Whitco, Kentucky, entered eternal life on Monday, August 14, 2023, at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky. He was a long time resident of Somerset, Kentucky. He loved his family, friends, reading his bible, gardening, and fishing. Ricky was born to Lester and Kathleen Brown of Whitco, Kentucky on March 30, 1953. He was the widow of Sharon Brown. Ricky worked many years as a coal miner, a job he truly loved. He is survived by his two daughters: Paulla (Eddie) Adams and Hilda Faye Stallard; son: Ricky Dean Brown; stepdaughter: Laverna (Chad) Collie; stepson: Rusty (Tori) Akers; grandchildren: James Tanner, and McQuade Walters, Maysa Adams, Tamika (Joey) Gilbert, Tamara (Tasha) Damrell, Cade Stallard, Daianara (Hunter) Branham, Callie and Ella Akers; great grandchildren: Parker, Jayce, Piper, Remi, Aleena and Brisen; brothers: Larry (Nancy), Marty, and Chad along with a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and his buddies in Somerset; also a special childhood friend William "Jay" McCool. He was preceded in death by his wife: Sharon; his parents: Lester and Kathleen; sisters: Teresa Brown Trent and Sandra Brown Huff. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 4:00 P.M - 6:00 P.M. at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family would like to request direct donation to the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center whom made his transition peaceful and as pain free as possible.
