Ronald "Ronnie" Bradley Bentley, 87 of Mayking, left for his heavenly home on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. Ronnie was the son of the late Bradley and Dixie Skaggs Bentley.
Surviving are 2 sons: Tyler Bentley (Kim) of Lexington and Stephen Bentley of Frankfort; 1 sister: Barbara Nadig (Henry) of Seminole, Florida; 3 grandchildren: Payton, Claire, and Ellie along with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
After graduating from Eastern Kentucky University, Ronnie served in the Army from September 1961 to September 1963, achieving the rank of an E-5 Sergeant. At which point he returned to Letcher County to work alongside his father to help own and operate the Royal Crown (RC) Cola business until the franchise was sold in 2011.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Ronnie, knew that his two loves were RC and NASCAR. While working and selling soft drinks was the top priority Monday-Saturday, Sundays were for racing. An interest that went back to his younger days and racing his own car. His best friends and family knew never to call him until after the checkered flag had been waved. If you did, you might just be labeled as another grouch on the Welcome to Whitesburg sign.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 O'clock A.M. Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Denver Pigman officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel.
