Steve Arnold Adams was born in Blackey, Kentucky on August 9, 1935 to parents Wilson and Chloe Banks Adams. He is survived by his wife of 69 years: Phyllis and two daughters: Beverly Adams of Rockford, MI and Melisa (Rob) Watts of Blackey; one granddaughter: Sarah (Mike) Lockwood of Grand Rapids, MI and one grandson: Ethan Kisor of Blackey. He was preceded in death by one son: Stephen Dwain Adams and a grandson: Scott Jordon Shephard. Three brothers: Ermine, Vernon and Melvin and three sisters: Mattie Bryant, Miona Sumner and Audrey Hogg. Steve graduated from Stuart Robinson School in 1955 and attended Morehead College. He taught school in Letcher County 2 years. They moved to Michigan where he worked 33 years for G.M. as a skilled Tradesman. After moving back to Kentucky, he worked as a substitute teacher at HCTC for 18 years. He always enjoyed helping anyone who had a need. He visited the nursing home and many who were homebound. He enjoyed goin to the Senior Citizen Center where he made many friends. He has out lived most of them. He belonged to Letcher Independent Baptist Church where he attended regular until he was home bound. Funeral: 1:00 O'clock P.M. Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at the Letcher Independent Baptist Church with Bill Jones and Merle Caudill officiating. Visitation: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Letcher Independent Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Letcher Independent Baptist Church Missionary Fund.
