Ted D. Asher

Ted Asher, 78 of Letcher passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Ted was born March 1, 1946 in Letcher, Kentucky. Mr. Asher was the son of the late Kermit and Ruby Blair Asher. He married Phyllis Fuller on January 8, 1972, she survives.

He was a graduate of Letcher High School. He proudly served in the United States Army. He worked hard his entire life to provide for his family which included working for the Electric Company, Blue Diamond Coal Company and Dixon Electric. He was a member of the Jeremiah Missionary Baptist Church in Jeremiah, Kentucky. His most enjoyment came from hunting with his son and grandsons, working in his garden and spending time with his family.

Other survivors include 1 daughter: Tedra (Alan) Strickland of Mt. Carmel, Tennessee; 1 son: Clint Asher (Brandie Back) of Letcher; grandchildren: Don (Samantha) Strickland, Jared Strickland, Joshua Strickland, James Strickland, Christopher Strickland, Leanna (Brian) Sersaw, Naomi Strickland and Judah Strickland; great grandchildren: Don Strickland Jr. and Winter Sersaw; sisters: Christine (Bob) Anderson and Barb Ison both of North Vernon, Indiana, Ann Litton of Morehead, Kentucky, Alice (Doug) Dixon of Lexington, Kentucky and Brenda Asher of Letcher, Kentucky. Along with a host of nieces and nephews

Ted was preceded in death by 1 brother: Jack Asher; 5 sisters: Sharon Ison, Debbie Asher, Ruth Asher, Betty Jo Adams and Helen Caudill. 

Funeral: 1:00 O'clock P.M. Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Dixon officiating. Visitation: 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Private Burial will follow in the Asher Family Cemetery at Letcher, Kentucky.
