Trubie Cornett Obituary

Trubie Cornett, 91 of Dry Fork was born August 8, 1934. He passed away April 22, 2026 at Letcher Manor Nursing Home with the love of his life by his side, he peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Trubie was the son of the late Ella Mae Tyree Cornett and Charlie Cornett. Trubie married Dora Ellen Polly on December 23, 1955 and together they had five children and 70 years of love and devotion. Trubie was a life long resident of Dry Fork and it was his favorite place on earth. He was a hard worker and a coal miner by trade, working in the mines from 1955-1991. Trubie loved the Louisville Cardinals, Raising Chickens, Singing and Whistling, Playing Cards, Watching the Birds from his porch, Gardening, and in his younger days he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all he loved his family and he was abundantly proud and blessed to be a Husband, Dad, and Papaw. He was strong-willed, sharp-minded, and kind and gentle at heart-he was a protector, a provider, and the true patriarch of his family.

Trubie is survived by his loving wife, Dora Ellen Polly Cornett, Two Sons: Willard Martin "Marty" Cornett (Pam Nichols Cornett) of Dry Fork, Barry Allan Cornett (Stephanie French Cornett) of Clay City, KY, One Daughter: Susan Janine Cornett Baker of Dry Fork, One Daughter in Law: Shelia Brown Cornett of Dry Fork. 6 Grandchildren: Paul Dunavon (Roxie Smith Cornett) of Dry Fork, Erica Cornett Jordan (Thomas Jordan) of Burdine, Brandi Cornett Hall (Nicholas Hall) of Dry Fork, Bradley Allan Cornett (Shalyn Daniels Cornett) of Murfreesboro, TN, Allyson MaKae Baker of Dry Fork, and Molly Elizabeth Cornett of Winter Garden, FL. 6 Great Grandchildren: Aaralyn Amara Jordan, Lily Alexandra Hall, Emmalyn Grace Jordan, Adalyn Elise Jordan, John Paul Cornett and Knox Solomon Hall, One Brother: Shelby Cornett of Ermine and many loving family members and friends whom he cherished and loved.

Other than his parents, Trubie is preceded in death by two sons, Stevie Cornett and Anthony Paul Cornett, Two brothers: Oscar Cornett and Odis "Toby" Cornett, One sister: Edith Cornett Tyree, Son in Law: Michael Dwayne Baker.

In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to Cincinnati Children's Hospital or St. Judes.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 O'clock P.M. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Frank Adams and Greg Niece officiating. Special Singing by Mary Ann Niece and Gary Lowe. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel.
