Verna (Sergent) Hurt, 89 of Thornton, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at her residence. Verna was the daughter of the late Luther and Pearl Sergent. She was the widow of Elmer J. (Jack) Hurt. She was a proud member of the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church for 52 years. One of Verna's favorite things to do was to be with her family and friends and cook big meals. She enjoyed cleaning, gardening, and beautiful flowers. Surviving is 1 son: Danny (Brenda) Hurt of Thornton; grandchildren: Vanessa (Randy) Vanover of Jenkins, Erich (Stacy) Hurt of Thornton, and Heather Hurt of Louisville, and Eric (Terrah) of Madisonville, Kentucky; great granddaughter: Ashley (Tanner Blair) Vanover; great grandsons: Hunter and Maximus; special daughter in law: René Hurt; 2 sisters: Ritter (Bill) Hall and Mary (Tim) Bealer both of Lorain, Ohio; 2 brothers: Henry Sergent of Lorain, Ohio and Jesse Sergent of Thornton along with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Verna was preceded in death by 1 son: Greg Hurt; 1 daughter: Regina Hurt and multiple brothers and sisters and other family members. Funeral 11:00 O'clock A.M. Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Craft officiating. Visitation 6:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine, Kentucky.
