Anthony Wayne Bailey, Wayne to all who knew him, passed into the Kingdom of Heaven May 19th 2022 in Isom, KY. He was born in Letcher County May 3rd 1956 to the late Bill & Paulene Bailey.
Born and raised in Racetrack Hollow, he grew up around racing & raced stock cars as a young man. It was through his love of cars that he met his wife at the racetrack. Wayne married Fredia Karen Terry in 1976.
Wayne started a career in mining and made his way up to foreman before retiring from the mines 1991. He continued to work with his hands as a car mechanic, handyman, and was well known for being able to fix anything.
He was a self-taught Bible scholar and a man of the word. He lived his life daily, glorifying God by lifting up and serving others. He was always there to help a friend in need.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Fredia; their two children, Karen & Matthew (Maddie); three grandchildren, Tekoa, Taylor, & Jackson; special sister Marcia; two brothers Phillip (Pat) and Randy (Sharie) and their children; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Glenn), Patty (Jack), Merissa (Dale), Brenda, and Debbie (John); brothers-in-laws, Johnny (Karen) , Freddie (Jeannie), & Gerry; hardworking nephew Mark; and many other beloved friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill & Paulene, sister-in-law Kathy, & brother-in-law Glenn.
Wayne was the dearest blessing to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed every day. In lieu of flowers or memorials the family asks that you please donate to the funeral fund in Wayne’s name at Letcher Funeral Home. Donations can be made by phone or in person at the funeral home.
